Second Year

So I'm going to continue right away with my more recent work, In this post I'm going to cover my motion graphic projects. This class is one of my favourites and I do honestly think this may be a direction that I want to continue in, my current instructor is Mark Gervais; an incredibly talented designer. Its awesome learning his process and getting his insights on my work.
You can check out his work here, awesome stuff!: http://www.markgervais.com/

PAC-MAN

This is the second animation I did for this class, the brief was simple; a motion graphic that synced to sound, be it music or anything. It could have been completely abstract, but while listening to potential music I was brought back to a drawing I once did as a kid that got me in a lot of trouble, long story short it was a terrifying picture of Pac-Man that included profanity. So, I decided I wanted to bring it back, and bring it to life, because nobody was gonna stand in my way this time.

I hope the quality doesn't suffer from this blog, anyway when I listened to this music track I got a club like vibe, that and a video game like feeling, so I decided to combine the two. I used a glow effect on most of the graphic elements to help portray that feeling, I also included bright neon coloured lights that flash in the background. Overall I like how it turned out, and I feel like I brought back a creative fire that was snuffed out in the past.

KRAKEN BLACK RUM AD

This was the most recent project for my motion graphics class that I completed. The ad speaks for itself, all I'll say is that International Talk Like a Pirate Day really does exist.

Unfortunately Blogger doesn't allow uploads over 100mb, so I've included a link to the video on my Vimeo account here: https://vimeo.com/263441698

I had a lot of fun on this project, I spent hours listening to sea shanties and it was definitely worth it.
I used a blackletter font for the pirate talk as the ship sailed the map, for obvious reasons. The song (for me) is what made this animation, while animating it and then viewing it after, kudos to the Irish Rovers for creating such a great song. Even though I just said it, I should mention that I do NOT own the rights to this song, only the animation that accompanies it. The song is: Weigh, Hey And Up She Rises by the Irish Rovers as previously mentioned.

Well that covers what I wanna show from motion graphics so far! Im working on a kinetic type project that I'm pretty excited about right now, I might post some of my process as I get further in the project. Well, thanks for reading and I hope you continue to enjoy my work!

Next time I'll show off my Design Movement Posters
