Typography Poster

I've just been going post to post with these but this will be the last one for a little bit, this project isn't completed and is one that I am currently working on. I thought It might be interesting to get a first hand look at how I go through my process, so here's a look. First I start with printing out the copy and reading through it, after that I like to research up on what my product is all about, info, mood boards, thumbnails all that jazz. Some research mixed up with info about all the designers this poster is based on. Now some type sketches, hierarchy organization and full scale prints to gauge the type size and layout From revising all of the work I had done I wanted to push a "chaotic organization" with the poster you see on the left. Design Movement Posters

This was a fun project because we got to do all of our own research and copy for the final design, of which we usually don't ever get to do. The project brief was to create two posters that reflected the design movement that we had to research while still holding some similarity between the two, I was assigned the International Typographic Style or (Swiss Style) and New Wave Typography. I got pretty lucky as you will see, these were both pretty great movements to play around with. The first poster I will show is International Typographic Style The International Typographic Style was all about following the grid, overlaying type over photos and setting it on it's side. The grid is decidedly shown on this poster as to reflect the grid structure of the I.T.S. The next poster reflects New Wave Typography, which was a movement that essentially broke all of the rules that I.T.S put into place, i.e. the grid structure. Second Year

So I'm going to continue right away with my more recent work, In this post I'm going to cover my motion graphic projects. This class is one of my favourites and I do honestly think this may be a direction that I want to continue in, my current instructor is Mark Gervais; an incredibly talented designer. Its awesome learning his process and getting his insights on my work. It could have been completely abstract, but while listening to potential music I was brought back to a drawing I once did as a kid that got me in a lot of trouble, long story short it was a terrifying picture of Pac-Man that included profanity. Introduction

This is just a simple blog of some of the work I've done and have been working on currently at the Alberta Collage of Art and Design. A lot of the projects are digital and are simply sitting around on my computer, so I thought why not get them out on a blog so those that are interested can take a look! So thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy my work! FANTASY HOUSE One of the very first projects I undertook at ACAD was the perspective drawing of a fantasy house. Even though illustration is not necessarily where I focus all of my time and effort improving, I still love doing it and had a lot of fun on this project. The mathematical side of illustration that is perspective is very intriguing to me, even though its not necessarily my strong suit, I still love getting my hands dirty with a little graphite and a couple rulers and T-squares every once and a while.
